Your cycling stats are not a social network
Modern cycling apps have turned into bloated monsters. They demand mandatory registration, push paid subscriptions, track your location, and turn every ride into a race for likes or leaderboard rankings.
I built BikeNote because I didn't need another social network. I wanted a simple and aesthetic tool — a digital "photo frame" for my rides. A place to calmly review my stats, track yearly progress, and see my routes without being distracted by marketing noise and endless notifications.

Tools that do the heavy lifting for you
BikeNote takes care of all the routine GPX analysis. I’ve implemented algorithms specifically tailored for cycling. You have full control: your data is your property. At any time, you can export your entire history into a single JSON file or completely clear the database with one click.

Who did I build BikeNote for?
Questions & Answers
How do I install the app?
You don't. That’s the beauty of it. No installers required. Just open (or drag and drop) the index.html file into your browser, and you're good to go. To use BikeNote on another computer, simply export a backup from the first browser and import it into the second.
How does the mobile version at mobile.bikenote.ru work?
The mobile version of BikeNote works as a PWA application (Progressive Web App). This modern web technology allows you to install a website on your phone and use it almost like a regular mobile app.
When you open mobile.bikenote.ru in a mobile browser, you can add it to your smartphone’s home screen. After installation, BikeNote launches in a separate window — without the browser address bar and behaves like a regular app.
How to install BikeNote on your phone
Android (Chrome):
- Open mobile.bikenote.ru
- Tap the browser menu ⋮
- Select “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”
iPhone (Safari):
- Open mobile.bikenote.ru
- Tap the “Share” button
- Select “Add to Home Screen”
What are the technical requirements?
Any modern browser. The application is optimized for screen resolutions from 1366px to 1920px.
Do I need to pay every month?
No. This is not a subscription service. You make a one-time purchase for the Standard or Pro version and use it for as long as you want.
Where is my data stored?
Exclusively in your browser (using IndexedDB technology). No files, coordinates, or personal information are ever sent to a server (there isn't one). If you clear your browser cache, the data will be lost, which is why I've included a JSON export feature for creating backups.
How do I transfer my history from Strava or other services?
It’s very simple. Export your tracks from Strava (or whatever service you currently use) in GPX format and just upload them to BikeNote. The app will process them instantly.
Can I upload a planned route to BikeNote?
No. BikeNote was specifically designed to evaluate completed rides. If a track hasn't actually been ridden, it lacks start and end timestamps. In such cases, BikeNote will show a notification and skip the file.
Will BikeNote work without an internet connection?
Yes. Once you've opened the app page for the first time, it is saved in your browser's cache. You can open it and analyze your tracks even in remote areas with no network coverage. An internet connection is only required to load and render the map tiles.
Why is the code for paid versions obfuscated?
The Free version is fully open for audit, so you can verify the security and privacy of the architecture for yourself. In the paid versions, I protect my data analysis and visualization algorithms from direct copying. Your privacy remains unchanged—you can always verify the absence of any network requests using your browser's Developer Tools.
Why BikeNote is safe to run
BikeNote is not a traditional program that installs on your computer. It is a web application made of HTML, JavaScript and CSS files that runs inside your browser — the same technology used by normal websites.
Because of this:
- BikeNote does not install anything on your system
- It does not run executable files (.exe, .app, etc.)
- It works inside the browser’s security sandbox
- It cannot access your computer or files without your permission
When you load a GPX file, it is processed locally in your browser. Your ride data is not uploaded anywhere.
Do you also run?
Check out my app RunNote. It’s the same simple and private service, but designed specifically for runners. GPX import, pace analysis, and shoe wear tracking in a familiar interface.
